Tis the seaons for cooking (and eating) all kinds of yummy food! And what better way to put all that food to use than to use it for inspiration. I LOVE food- I love to eat food and I love using food as inspiration. Over time I have grown to love cooking just as much as I love drawing and painting and what I love most is combining the two. These days preparing and cooking dinner has turned into one of my most creative times of the day. Not only do I get to enjoy creating the meal, eat the meal but I also challenge myself to document the process. This process is one of those "kill two birds with one stone" situations where you can turn an everyday task into something creative and something that you can use in your art.
I challenge myself to find creative ways to snap photos of the process.
I get in real close to capture a mood
or details
I like to arrange ingredients
and look for pattern and texture that will inspire me in the future.
And of course I always look for lovely colors that I can use in future creative projects.
Then I like to take it a step further and use food in my doodles and drawings.
I love to document my food and recipes with lots of color in the pages of my sketchbook.
PUT IT INTO ACTION!
Today some time this holiday season to look at your food preparation as a creative process. Whether you are cooking breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack- use those moments to look at the process with fresh eyes.
What shapes and patterns do you see? What color stands out to you? Is there a way that you can style or arrange your food and get a little creative?
Take a photo OR photograph the entire process- use the photos later on in your blogs, print photographs and use them in your journal or scrapbook page, create recipe pages.
If you enjoy drawing painting or even doodling try spending a little time documenting your meal through this process.
