When it comes to taking photos I have lots of fun getting creative with self portraits! Taking a self portrain it is a unique way to document a moment, a day or a time in your life. It is fun to go back and visit these photos and reflect upon that moment in time but it is also a quick way to improve your photography skills, work on something creative when you are uninspired or don't have interesting subject matter. Here are a few ideas to get you inspired-
Embrace the everyday moments. Forget about perfection. Instead try finding moments throughout your day to capture what life really looks like when you are not worried about staging the perfect self portrait.

Try getting creative with cropping or positioning the photo in unique ways. There is no rule that says you need to have your entire face in a self portrait! Try snapping a shot of your eyes, your mouth, your feet, your hands or other parts of your body.
Use you camera to capture photos of yourself! Try to put aside any shyness or insecurity. Instead, think of it as an opportunity to capture a little piece of your story or a chapter in your life.
Sometimes it is as simple as holding your camera out in front of you to snap a shot, standing in front of a mirror to capture your refection or even setting your timer and posing! Regardless of how you take the photo, the daily practice of capturing an image of yourself can be a wonderful way to document the history of you!
PUT IT INTO ACTION!
Take a self portrait and try to capture the holiday season, a moment or event that you want to remember.
Get CREATIVE! dress up, be dramatic, express yourself!
Use the timer on your camera- challenge yourself to set up a unique angle or shot and then jump into the picture.
Don't have a camera with a timer? Stretch you hands out and hold the camera out in front of you- you would be surprised what you can do with this technique!
