Today's post isn't a project but instead it's a concept and a little bit of a challenge- a challenge to dedicate a little time to making MORE making creative moments during the holidays. I was blessed to have parents who are artists and when my brother and I were kids, they made sure we all were doing something creative each and every day- especially during the holidays. The best holiday memories that I have are not decorating the tree, shopping for gifts, singing carols or anything typical. Instead the memories that have stuck with me and actually influenced my life outside of the holidays are the ones that were creative and unique.
Here are a few ideas to get you started-
Get creative with those holiday photos! Instead of traditional picture taking during the holidays, try to do things outside the box when it comes to staging and taking photos. Try to create and capture a mood or a moment in a creative way.
Dedicate a little time each day to make something unique for the people in your life. I know it can be challenging to incorporate handmade into the holidays because of time but even making unique wrapping paper or even a little handmade gift tag is not only special for the recipient but it gets YOU creating and stretching those artistic muscles!
Count down to Christmas with creativity! Assign a creative task or projects for each day-this is something we actually did in our home during the holidays growing up. We spent 25 days making something together as a family each and every night. From homemade ornaments to cards to baking- we counted down to Christmas with lots of creativity.
Document your thankfulness! Being grateful seems to get associated with Thanksgiving here in the US but why not find some unique ways to document the things that you and your family are grateful for.
Make it a point to think outside tradition to find unique ways for you and your family to make more creative moments!
I like the idea of trying to make something unique for friends and family during the holidays. Last year I made time to sew ornaments and enclose them in their Christmas cards. For neighbors I try to bake something. Thanks for so many ideas to be creative.
